Music for Health
The Steinway Piano Society of Naples presented its first Pastors’ Talent Show this past Memorial Day weekend. Held at the Cambier Park band shell in Naples, Fla., the concert featured 11 clergymen and clergywomen from eight churches who performed music for several hundred fans.
The Steinway Piano Society is the non-profit branch of the Steinway Piano Gallery in Bonita Springs, Fla. Society members Dr. Carl Wood and Sara Billings acted as emcees.
The Pastors’ Talent Show benefited the Steinway Piano Society’s scholarship fund and the Neighborhood Health Clinic, an organization that offers medical care to the low-income, working, uninsured residents of Collier County. The event brought the total amount raised by the Society for the clinic, over the past three years, to $60,000.
Classical and Broadway singers were accompanied by local pianists on a Steinway Model B. Other acts were backed up by Throat Culture, a band featuring Greg Billings, owner of the Steinway Piano Gallery and founder of the Steinway Piano Society, on bass. Several acts performed solo.
