FIRST ACT, GIBSON, YAMAHA I TRENDS
Eco-Trends on the Rise
Music industry manufacturers have joined the trend of producing eco-friendly products. First Act recently introduced the Bambusa guitar to address the scarcity of old-growth hard woods. The guitar is made of bamboo with a water-based, natural matte finish and food-safe glue.
Gibson Guitars has taken a different approach with the recent sponsorship of the Natural Resources Defense Council’s (NRDC) Eco Salon held in Nashville, Tenn. NRDC’s objective was to educate the local music community about alternative energy sources to mountaintop coal mining.
Yamaha also recently instituted its Green Procurement initiative to reduce and eliminate hazardous chemicals in its products.
“As a responsible corporate citizen, Yamaha Corp. of America is committed to conducting its business in a way that will ensure a better future,” said Terry Lewis, executive vice president of Yamaha Corp. of America. “Yamaha has long been proactive in protecting our environment, but as so-called green consciousness grows, we aim to be at the forefront of this important trend.”
