Yamaha’s Ed Boyer Passes at 63

Ed Boyer

Ed Boyer, regional sales manager at Yamaha Corp. of America, passed away on April 8 following an accident at his home. He was 63 years old.

“With a strong background in retail, Ed developed long-lasting partnerships with dealers while working with them to gain relationships with area school directors,” NAMM said in a statement. “Yamaha designed several important music education programs for which Ed proudly introduced to his dealers, most of which were created to improve business by increasing the number of music makers.”

Boyer was also well remembered by NASMD. “Ed would want you to look back on his life and celebrate the good times and memories. No doubt he was one of the people you just wanted to be around, especially with that infectious laugh,” the association said in a statement, noting that he’d won numerous awards during his 37 years with Yamaha for sales and marketing of wind, string and percussion instruments. “Ed was always a consummate professional who drove those of us who worked with him to be better. Ed also loved to play drums and had a special place in his heart for Tower of Power and Steve Gadd. We can’t forget how much he also loved the Philadelphia Eagles and a cold Heineken.”

Boyer is is survived by his wife Kathleen, son Christopher and daughter Katie.
