Turkish Cymbal Co. Strikes New U.S. Distribution Deal

Classic City Percussion Source's Wes Ivester

After establishing a presence worldwide with a full-line of traditionally handmade drum set and orchestral cymbals, Turkish Cymbals have arrived in the U.S. Beginning with a limited number of retail partners and destination drum stores, Classic City Percussion Source of Athens, Georgia, will handle marketing and distribution for the continental U.S.

“From the first moment my sticks hit these remarkable cymbals, I was hooked,” said Wes Ivester, who established Classic City Percussion specifically to work with the Turkish brand. “Discovering Turkish Cymbals helped me realize there is a more personal, almost luxurious alternative to the same sounds we have been hearing for so many years. Our mission is to give every drummer that same experience and at a price they can really afford.”

With roots stretching back to the very origins of cymbal smithing in Istanbul, the Turkish brand was established in 1998 by master craftsman Mehmet Tamdegar as a modern take on his traditionally jazz-focused metallurgy. This led to the development of rides, crashes, hi-hats and effects to cover nearly any sound, style, or visual flavor for drummers to make their own.

“We want Turkish Cymbals to find a sonic space in every player’s setup,” Ivester said. “Our intention is to work with a select number of drummer-focused retailers to make cymbal selection inspiring, personal, and unique.”
