Rocktoberfest Donates $30K to Charles County Board of Education Fine Arts

Despite the cancellation of the annual Rocktoberfest, a non-profit annual street festival held the first weekend of October and featuring outdoor fun, live music and vendors held in downtown La Plata, Maryland, committee members still presented a check for $30,000 to the Charles County Board of Education’s Fine and Performing Arts.

According to a statement from Rocktoberfest, this donation wouldn’t have happened without the support from business sponsors both local and nationwide, as well as individual supporters through “overwhelmingly successful merchandise and raffle ticket sales.”

“We put a lot of time and energy into making this a successful event every year,” said Keith Grasso Rocktoberfest founder and owner of La Plata, Maryland-based Island Music Company. “As tough as the decision was to cancel the event, it was the right one for our staff, volunteers and attendees. To be able to still pull together $30,000 for our cause is amazing! What an honor it is to enhance the musical education of students right here in our community.”
