On June 26, the National Educational Music Co., (NEMC), in partnership with Alfred Publishing, hosted a professional development workshop for music educators. This year’s event, the seventh of its kind since the workshop’s inception in 2016, featured presenters Mike Kamuf of Alfred Publishing and Tom Murphy, longtime band teacher, percussionist and author of “100 Days To Sight Reading Excellence.”

The workshop was focused on practical strategies for classroom teaching, included a new sheet music reading session and offered tips and techniques for working with student percussionists as well as how to best maintain and repair percussion equipment.

“I was thrilled to present two sessions at this year’s NEMC Summer Workshop,” Kamuf said. “The program is a great professional enrichment and recharging experience for music educators.”

“I am again impressed with NEMC’s commitment to giving back to music education,” Murphy said. “I was honored to present two classes to over thirty outstanding music educators, all of whom were taking time out of their summer for professional development. The organization, logistics, wonderful food, and air of professionalism were perfectly curated by the NEMC Educational Representatives. Well done NEMC”

Attendees received prize giveaways from Alfred and D’Addario. D’Addario provided branded swag and three grand prize winners were awarded an exclusive factory tour to include lunch for the winner and up to three colleagues of their choosing. Participants also received a free copy of “100 Days To Sight Reading Excellence” from Murphy.
