Last week, NASMD celebrated its 60th anniversary during the 2022 convention held at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort in Tucson, Arizona. For the first time since the pandemic began, NASMD was able to hold an independently staged, live-in-person convention after co-locating with Summer NAMM for its 2021 installation. More than 350 registered attendees descended upon the desert for three full days of educational sessions and networking mixers in addition to the annual golf scramble. The ‘60s-themed Closing Party saw outgoing NASMD President Whitney Brown Grisaffi of Ted Brown Music pass on the position to incoming president CJ Averwater of Amro Music.

“It has truly been an honor to serve as your president,” Grisaffi said.

Educational sessions spanned everything from the best tech to use during recruitment nights to how to create the best in-store experience for your customers.

Music Inc. will break down some of the key takeaways from the convention’s educational sessions in its June/July 2022 issue, out next month.
