Martin Guitars CEO Chris Martin IV to Step Down From Role

Chris Martin IV has announced plans to retire as CEO of the Nazareth, Pennsylvania-based company C.F. Martin & Co., a role he has held for more than 30 years. Martin, who also serves as chairman of NAMM, announced the news on July 16 via a press release.

Martin plans to step away from the role of CEO in July 2021, however, he will continue working with the company as executive chairman of the board.

“I’ve spent over 40 years in my family business and what a ride it’s been,” Martin said in a press release. “Now I’ve reached the point where it’s time for me to move into the role of Executive Chairman. I am confident in the current leadership team because I know they love the company as much as I do and I will be working closely with them through this transition.”

The retirement also coincides with the end of Martin’s term as chairman of NAMM.

C.F. Martin & Co is currently searching for a new CEO-president with the Hudson Gain Corporation, meaning the company may be taken over by someone outside the Martin family, potentially ending a six-generation legacy.
