Denver-based Kolacny Music will close its doors in the coming months after nearly a century in business.

Shop owner David Kolacny told local news outlet, 9News, that the COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on his store and sales have been down.

The business opened its doors in 1930 and has been passed down throughout generations of Kolacny’s family. Currently, David, his wife and his sister run the shop and are making room for the next generation of future business owners to take over the property.

“It’s just a chance for somebody else to step up and have a good career,” Kolacny said.

Kolacny Music is set to close at the end of September but will keep its harp rental and repair business running.
