Founding Partner of OMG Music Passes Away

Larry Greene

Larry Greene, a founding partner of OMG Music, passed away Dec. 22, 2022. He was 72.

Greene started in the MI industry with Silver Eagle in the 1980s. He went on to become a founding partner of OMG Music in 1990. Over the next three decades, Greene would help transform the MI accessories category, catapulting accessories — in particular guitar straps — from smaller secondary items to significant profit centers for dealers. According to a statement from OMG Music, Greene was the “consummate dealer advocate, constantly pioneering dealer-friendly policies that were unheard of at the time but are industry standards today.”

Greene was also an accomplished singer-songwriter. His solo achievements included performing “Through the Fire” on the multi-platinum selling “Top Gun” soundtrack, as well as the theme song of the Sylvester Stallone film “Over the Top.”

OMG Music’s company statement closed by saying, “To anyone who crossed paths with Larry, he always left you with a smile on your face. Ever the jokester, talking to Larry was guaranteed to brighten your day, regardless of what was going on in your life, or his. While the music industry will miss his talents, Larry’s kind and gentle nature and ability to make us laugh will be missed by all of us who knew him.”
