Deering Purchases ProPik

Deering Banjo Company has announced that it has completed the purchase of fingerpick brand, ProPik from California-based Mapson Engineering on April 15 and has begun to manufacture the entire line of fingerpicks at their Spring Valley, California facility.

The purchase marks Deering’s first move into fingerpick manufacturing. According to Deering, it plans to continue manufacturing picks under the ProPik brand name, which has enjoyed more than 30 years of success and will assume responsibility for the manufacturing of the extensive line of products for a variety of instruments.

ProPik fingerpicks were distributed exclusively by Guptill Music, which closed its doors last November. Then, Deering and ProPik founder and inventor Jim Mapson met in January during The 2020 NAMM Show to begin discussions on what would eventually result in the purchase of the brand.
