On-Stage has released the Snake Box, a signal-transfer solution that consolidates four XLR connections into a single ethernet cable, making it easier and tidier to set up multichannel systems for the stage or studio. While this type of device is often referred to as “audio over ethernet,” the Snake Box actually supports multiple aspects of live production and studio recording including balanced-analog audio for microphones, instruments and speakers, as well as digital protocols, such as DMX and AES/EBU for controlling stage lighting and audio. Available in male-XLR (SNK4BM) or female-XLR (SNK4BF) configurations, the Snake Box handles four separate channels and its bidirectional capability enables it to route signals in either direction to suit a wide range of systems.
