General Manager Dan Murphy
Retires from All County Music

All County Music has announced that its general manager, Dan Murphy, is retiring after 30 years.

Murphy, an Ohio native, started his after-college career as a band director, but found that his love of performing was too strong to keep him in the classroom, said a company statement.

Murphy was hired by All County's founder, Mel Schiff, for his knowledge of education, performance and products. His expertise became invaluable and as the company grew, so did his responsibilities.

Murphy was instrumental during All County Music's frequent store remodels, niche pro-shop additions, computer system changes, hurricanes and in an ever-changing retail and competitive landscape. He departs just in time to finish the latest repair shop overhaul.

Customers, staff and vendors will miss his knowledge and organizational skills along with his ability to make sure things are right, said the same statement.

"Dan started his All County Music career only months after I started mine, so we have grown up together in this business," said Fred Schiff, president of All County Music, in the announcement. "He's helped us in ways too numerous to detail and not having him here to count on will be quite an adjustment. He's earned this part of life."
