DADDY’S JUNKY MUSIC I CHARITY
Meet, Greet, Donate
Daddy’s Junky Music, in conjunction with Sabian, Tama and Pro-Mark, recently hosted two in-store meet-and-greets with Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy.
Held at Daddy’s Albany, N.Y., and Boston locations, the two events attracted more than 400 fans to meet Portnoy and raised more than $1,200 for charity. Shadows Fall drummer Jason Bittner and Fates Warning’s Jim Matheos and Frank Aresti also dropped in to say “hello.”
The Daddy’s Albany meet-and-greet benefited Camp Good Days, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families whose lives have been affected by cancer and other life challenges.
The Boston event benefited The Station Family Fund, a not-for-profit charity aiding the victims and survivors of the Station Nightclub fire that killed 100 people and severely injured hundreds more in 2003.
“When we do meet-and-greets here at Daddy’s, they are always free to the public, so we figured why not kindly ask for donations at the door and donate 100 percent of the money raised to charity,” said Daddy’s Promotions Director Candi Bramante.
