Peavey to Receive
Historic Blues Marker

Mississippi will honor Hartley Peavey, founder and CEO of Peavey Electronics, with a marker on the Historic Mississippi Blues Trail on January 17. The marker will recognize Peavey’s contribution to Mississippi’s blues heritage and is the only marker representing a manufacturer.

The Mississippi Blues Trail, created by the Mississippi Blues Commission, is a project to place interpretive markers at the most notable historical sites related to the growth of the blues throughout the state of Mississippi. The trail extends from the border of Louisiana in southern Mississippi and winds its way to Memphis, Tenn.

“I was born and raised in Mississippi and the state has been the home of Peavey Electronics since its founding in 1965,” Peavey said. “Mississippi is the point-of-origin of America’s musical history, and I am honored to have been a part of that. The musical legacy of Mississippi still flows through the veins of Peavey Electronics and always will. ”

The marker unveiling ceremony is scheduled to be held at Peavey Headquarters in Meridian, Miss., and a reception sponsored by Peavey Electronics will follow. Both events are open to the public.
