Harman Picks Up Newsweek

Sidney Harman, founder and chairman of Harman International, has purchased Newsweek magazine from the Washington Post Co. Harman was thought to be the front runner to make the purchase, which was made official Aug. 2. The deal is expected to be concluded by the end of August or early September.

“I am enormously pleased to be succeeding The Washington Post Company and the Graham family and look forward to this great journalistic, business, and technological challenge," Harman told Newsweek.
