Full Compass Breaks Ground on New Building

Drizzling rain and stormy conditions didn’t stop Full Compass’ Susan and Jonathan Lipp from breaking ground on their company’s new, 140,000-square-foot facility in Madison, Wis. The event, held at noon on Aug. 4, drew in Madison’s mayor, David Cieslewicz, and Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, as well as longtime employees and media.

Construction is scheduled to be complete in spring of 2009. At that point, Full Compass will move from its current location in nearby Middleton. The new building will feature roughly 80,000 square feet of warehouse space, along with two fully equipped production studios, a sound equipment museum and a cafeteria with a full-time chef. The 15-acre campus also provides extra space for the building to be doubled again.

Full Compass had been located in Madison until 1995, when it moved into its current Middleton facility. In 1998, that building was expanded, doubling in size. This year, the retailer and distributor has projected annual sales of roughly $97 million.

“We are incredibly excited to have achieved the growth that has brought us to this milestone in our history,” said Susan Lipp, company president. “The new building will provide the necessary room and amenities to allow us to continue focusing on delivering the highest quality of service to our customers.”

“Our warehouse will be double its current size in the new building, enhancing our ability to increase on-hand inventory,” said Jonathan Lipp, company CEO. “Our nationwide customer base will benefit from a more complete line and more items with same-day shipping.”
