MAY 23 I JORDAN KITT’S MUSIC I BUYOUT Jordan Kitt’s Music acquired all interest in Steinway of Chicago from Schmitt Music of Minneapolis on May 16. The College Park, Md.-based Jordan Kitt’s will now be the exclusive new and used Steinway dealer in the Chicago area, with the current store located in Downers Grove, Ill., and a new location to be announced in June. Steinway of Chicago also carries the full family of Steinway brands, including Boston and Essex, along with Roland digital pianos and Cristofori pianos. Jordan Kitt’s and Schmitt Music had both acquired the assets of Steinway of Chicago in April 2005. Prior to the buyout, the piano retailer did business as The Beautiful Sound. “We are very excited about both representing Steinway & Sons in metropolitan Chicago and offering area piano consumers the same award-winning customer service that we’ve provided to over a quarter million families since our own founding in 1912,” said Richard Grant, Jordan Kitt’s CEO and chairman. “We are extremely proud to bring our superlative reputation for value, selection and service to the Chicago market, which has tremendous growth potential.” The store will also house Keyboard Learning Centers, offering fun and motivational piano lessons. Piano rentals, tunings, moving and general maintenance will also be included in available services offered.
